Students develop open educational resources addressing ethical AI, data privacy and cyberbullying for approximately 200 secondary school students
SALTILLO, COAHUILA, MEXICO | September 11th, 2026 — KidGeeniers, an educational initiative dedicated to developing future-ready skills in children and young people, has successfully concluded an educational collaboration with Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Saltillo, and its School of Humanities, connecting university students with the needs of the local school community to promote digital citizenship and responsible technology use.
The collaboration was carried out through the academic block “Symbolic Structures in Image, Literature and Music,” delivered in English to students from the School of Business and the School of Engineering at Tecnológico de Monterrey Campus Saltillo.
As part of the initiative, participating university students designed and developed Open Educational Resources (OER) focused on strengthening digital citizenship among adolescents. The projects addressed some of the most relevant challenges facing young people in today’s digital environment, including the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence, protection of personal data online, digital privacy, and cyberbullying prevention.
The educational experience was facilitated by professors Ana Lucía Aguilar Gutiérrez, Merari Sifuentes and Jazmín, with KidGeeniers serving as the educational partner and training organization supporting the initiative.

From university learning to community impact
A central component of the collaboration was connecting academic learning with a real educational need. The resources created by the Tec de Monterrey students were designed specifically for Secondary School No. 16 in Saltillo, with the potential to benefit approximately 200 first-year students.
The projects were evaluated with the participation of Ma. Guadalupe Alemán González, Renata Yamamoto Aréchiga and Ada Lisete Vega del Valle, educators and representatives of the participating secondary school.
This model created a direct connection between university students developing educational solutions and the young people who will ultimately benefit from them.
“Technology education must go beyond teaching young people how to use digital tools. We need to help them understand the consequences of their decisions, protect themselves and others, and use technology to create positive impact.”
— Dr. Daniel Gómez, Founder and Architect of KidGeeniers
Preparing young people for a digital future
The collaboration reflects KidGeeniers’ broader F3 – Foundational Future Framework, which focuses on helping children and young people develop the foundational competencies required to navigate a technology-driven world.
Rather than focusing exclusively on technical skills or coding, the framework emphasizes thinking, understanding, context, responsible decision-making and human-centered technology use.
The partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey demonstrates how these principles can be translated into practical educational experiences that connect higher education, schools and communities.
For KidGeeniers, the completion of this project represents another step toward building an ecosystem in which universities can contribute knowledge and talent, educators can identify real community needs, and young people can become better prepared to participate responsibly in the digital world.
KidGeeniers extends its appreciation to the participating professors, students, educators and school leadership, as well as to Tecnológico de Monterrey and its School of Humanities, for their commitment to creating an educational experience with community impact.
